Biz Markie's Just A Friend Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing unwavering support and essential resources to children in the foster care system and those experiencing food deprivation. We are driven by a powerful mission to improve the lives of these vulnerable children, empower them with opportunities, and create a brighter future for them.

 

Founded in honor of the late Biz Markie, an iconic musician and beloved figure, our foundation is committed to continuing his legacy of compassion, resilience, and making a positive impact. Led by our esteemed Executive Director, Tara Hall, who is also Biz Markie's widow, we are fueled by a deep understanding of the challenges that foster youth face and a profound commitment to their well-being.

 

Our foundation recognizes the critical importance of providing support and resources to children in the foster care system. We work in close collaboration with foster care organizations, community partners, schools, and advocates to develop comprehensive programs that address their unique needs. Through mentoring, educational support, life skills training, and therapeutic services, we strive to create a nurturing environment where they can thrive and overcome obstacles.

 

In addition to our work with foster care children, we are also actively engaged in fighting food deprivation. We believe that no child should go to bed hungry. Through strategic partnerships with local food banks, community organizations, and initiatives, we aim to alleviate food insecurity and ensure that children have access to nutritious meals. We support initiatives such as school meal programs, food drives, and nutritional education to promote healthy living.
